This Circa 1890's photograph is looking North on "D" ( now called El Camino Real ), at Main Street. It is of a celebration of a event at this intersection. In June, 1984, the 1st Chili Cook-off ( destined to be an annual event ) has continued for 31 years. It has been declared to be the largest one day chili cook-off in America. Last year, there was an estimated 38,000 people in attendance. This year it is predicted to be even larger. There are 50 kitchens signed up plus many other venders, 3 stages, with 12 bands and entertainers. There is something for everyone. The Camera D< and H historical locations are shown on the map.
